The adventure continues on the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway, where you’ll ride a classic steam train through idyllic countryside. Finally, visit Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare, and discover its historic landmarks and vibrant atmosphere. Depart from London in the early morning and begin your journey north to the stunning Peak District, the first National Park of England. Known for its scenic beauty, the Peak District is a land of rolling hills, clear lakes, and lush woodlands, creating one of the most picturesque regions in the country. As you traverse the park, you’ll be greeted by the breathtaking sights of sprawling moorlands, peaceful valleys, and enchanting woodlands.
The first stop is Bakewell, a charming market town famous for its cozy courtyards, boutique shops, and the iconic Bakewell Pudding or Tart. Take a stroll through the quaint town center, enjoy the atmosphere, and treat yourself to this local delicacy. Continue on to Buxton, affectionately known as the "Gateway to the Peak District." Here, you’ll have time to explore the town’s historic Roman spas, marvel at the grand architecture of the Buxton Opera House, and relax with some leisure time to explore the town’s attractions.
After breakfast, we continue the adventure through the magnificent Lake District National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its captivating lakes, majestic mountains, and dense woodlands. You’ll be transported through breathtaking landscapes as we make our way to Windermere, England’s largest natural lake. Here, you’ll enjoy a tranquil boat cruise, soaking up the serene views of the lake’s sparkling waters and surrounding peaks.
Next, step back in time with a scenic steam train ride on the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway, which offers charming views of the countryside. The journey continues to Grasmere, a quaint village known as the home of celebrated poet William Wordsworth. Enjoy free time to explore Grasmere, where you can visit the historic church, walk through the Daffodil Gardens, and indulge in the town’s famous gingerbread treats.
After breakfast, the final day of the journey takes us to the beautiful and historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare. On arrival, you’ll have the opportunity to explore Shakespeare's half-timbered birthplace, delving into the world of one of literature’s most renowned figures. Wander through the town at your leisure, enjoying its rich heritage, beautiful Tudor architecture, and scenic riverside views.
Following an afternoon of exploration in Stratford, we’ll begin our journey back to London, concluding this memorable 3-day tour with Jain Voyagers.
