Arrive in Longyearbyen according to your travel arrangements. Upon arrival, you can take an airport shuttle or taxi (approx. 10 minutes) to your accommodation. After checking in, you can spend the rest of the day exploring this fascinating Arctic town, depending on your arrival time.
Longyearbyen, the vibrant “capital” of Spitsbergen with around 2,000 residents, offers a mix of Arctic wilderness and modern comforts. You’ll find art galleries, pubs, restaurants, and even a mini-mall. Despite its modern feel, remnants of its industrial past, like the old coal mining infrastructure, are still visible throughout the town. We recommend visiting the northernmost church in the world, Svalbard Church, and the Svalbard Museum, which showcases the region’s history, climate, wildlife, and Arctic exploration.
In Longyearbyen, you can experience the Midnight Sun from late April until August 20, when the sun never sets, offering endless daylight for exploration. For dinner, the town offers diverse dining options, from fine dining at Huset to the cozy atmosphere of Kroa.

After breakfast at the hotel, embark on a 7-hour cruise on the eco-friendly hybrid catamaran MS Bard. The journey takes you through the stunning landscapes of Billefjorden, offering incredible views of the majestic Nordenskiöldbreen Glacier and the ghost town of Pyramiden from a distance. You'll also sail through the scenic Skansbukta Bay, and if you're lucky, spot wildlife such as seals, seabirds, and other Arctic creatures.
The MS Bard is designed for minimal environmental impact, allowing you to quietly glide through the Arctic waters. With panoramic windows, outdoor decks, and comfortable lounges, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to take in the breathtaking surroundings. Make sure to dress warmly in layers for the outdoor experience.
